We have used Purina Pro food for years. We have two 11 year old, large dogs who have had ‘growing old’ issues within the last couple of years. A privately owned pet store owner recommended this selection of the Purina Pro brand (for Senior dogs) because of the chicken and probiotics. The boys love it! I will say because of their older-dog digestive issues (constipation, and otherwise), we now prepare and feed them a mix of plain chicken breast, green beans and rice and add the Purina Pro for texture and Purina crunchies. They look great and I am hoping this is a main contribution to a higher energy level and sleeping better at night!

As a puppy our dog was very prone to sickness from various foods. This food was a saving grace she has been eating it for two years now. The quality and nutrition are great. The pieces are a little big for chewing but she doesn’t seem to mind. Great value. Her breath is stinky though.

I have three dogs. One is on a special prescription cardiac diet as recommended by his cardiologist, the brand is purina pro plan. My other two dogs just needed a well balanced regular dog food since for the first time, they could not eat what he needed, and this stresses me out. I always want to be sure we pick a good brand with good ingredients that the dogs will like. We tried several foods without success but Since what was recommended to him was a purina pro plan, I decided to go that route. While they still get jealous of his “special” food, they do eat this food without issue and I feel at ease knowing it’s not full of all the junk some other foods are. There have been no stomach or skin issues ( these specific dogs are not prone to skin issues though) and meal times are our fave time. They really enjoy the fresh pieces in the mix and eat those first. Then go in for the rest of the dry dog food. They have no issues chewing. Even my old man dog with cardiac issues and dental problems that easy soft food sneaks some bits without issues chewing. We have had no issues with appearance or texture. We are only 3 large bags in but I’m happy to think we finally found our dog food and no longer feel lost!

I have been using Purina Pro Plan Shredded Chicken since my girl was a pup. I did a lot of research to make sure I was not getting some fly by the night gimmick and spoke to several vets. I do not feed her just this though its the primary foundation in her diet among freeze dried natures diet, *many* dead animal parts from cod skins to cow hooves and some bits like whimzees (she loves them) on occasion. Her teeth are border pure white, commented on by people and vets alike, 3 years+ in. I do not brush her teeth (did you know dogs enamel is thinner than yours?). I don’t “treat her gut”. She eats this PP, dead animal bits, natures diet FD and toppers/treats, whimzees. The occasional bird from the yard and her tearing up the toys I am sure helps. Totally digressing. Point being. Your pup is (likely) not a wolf; stop trying to make them one. Try the food yourself, I did. Its pretty bland but no worse than most crackers you might grab off the shelf. Sure your taste is not theirs but when you taste/smell/etc a metallic content or the like you know. Anyhow, I buy it local as its cheaper but this stuff is just good. Don’t fall for the dog food gimmick crap out there that costs four times your own food budget for a companion 30% your weight. Done.

I have been using ProPlan for my dogs for many years. Recently, my vet told me she also gives ProPlan to her dogs, so that confirmed my choice of food! My cockapoo has been eating this food since he was born, forth the puppy version and now this. He has a thick glossy coat, white teeth and a pink tongue. While it can’t all be food, his vet said that this food agrees with him. We try to change it up by adding protein or vegetables to it when he gets bored but on the whole, he loves it and it seems to agree with him. Hope this helps.
